Issue:

How do I change the name of my computer that is displayed in the Users Online list and when I have reached the user limit?

Solution:

The computer name is your Windows network computer name.  If you have not configured your computer name before, it might just be a series of numbers and letters or it could be a generic name.

To rename your computer, right-click My Computer from your desktop and go to Properties.  Then, click the Network Identification tab at the top.  Click Properties and then change the "Computer Name" field.  These steps may vary slightly depending on the version of Windows that you have.

Note:  If your computer is part of a local area network, you should check with your network administrator before changing your computer's name.  Changing the computer name when your computer is part of a network could affect your network, including other users' ability to connect to your computer.  It is likely that your computer probably already has an assigned computer name if it is part of a network.  Usually only computers that are not part of a network have generic computer names.

More Information:

The computer name is used by SAGE-Online to identify your specific computer.  When you have a multiple user license, you can use the Users Online option in the Tools menu to view all of the computers currently connected to SAGE-Online under your account.

Each Computer name should be unique for your network.  If you have more than one computer with the same computer name, the multi-user capabilities of SAGE-Online may not work properly.  Please ensure that each computer that is using the same SAGE User ID has a unique computer name.
